If you are not attending, please register your apology in the normal manner
Please note the next meeting is Thursday 18 July at Cambridge High
Note from President Gary
My first meeting is now behind me. This week we bid our final farewell to Marie and I gave an overview on why I thought we needed to increase our focus on membership this year and in out years. There will be more on this as my term progresses.
Thanks to the CHS Lacrosse team they did a sterling job of catering for our members and gave a detailed outline of their sport and planned activities.
All of you should now be aware that we are meeting at CHS on the first and third Thursday of the month. So just two meetings at CHS a month. There will be a social gathering on the 4th Thursday of the month and the first of these will be a movie night. Partners, friends and family are welcome to attend. There will be no committee meeting this month as the Board is going to use this space to fine tune our approach for the year.
Take care everyone and keep warm.
President Gary
Overview from President Gary
President Gary confirmed the Board for 2024/2025 (see side-bar) and outlined his proposed priorities for the year.
The Club will only meet formally on the first and third Thursday of the month at Cambridge High. Committee meetings will be done off site in a manner that the Director of that committee determines. On the 4th Thursday of the month there will be a social event. This is voluntary and in the main will be organised by LesleyAnn Thomas and Richard Seabrook. There will be no meeting in those months where there are 5 Thursdays.
The focus for the year will be:
Delivering our Major projects – Bookarama, Urban Miners, The Garden Festival, and the Raceway Carparking
Delivering the standard Rotary community facing events eg Marshalling, Christmas Festival
Deliver/participate in the standard Rotary programs eg RYPEN, RYLA, Science etc
Growing membership so that we continue to be a strong club that makes a difference in our community, as well as reflecting the demographic of our community by gender, ethnicity and age.
Cambridge High School Music Showcase
CHS has a Music Showcase coming up on Wednesday 14 August. This concert typically takes place at 7pm in the evening for friends and family, but if there is enough interest, they would love to present an afternoon concert at 1pm especially for local service organisations and residents in our local retirement villages. There will be no formal charge for this event, but any donations will go towards their Music Tour to Sydney in July 2025 during which the students will perform in the Sydney Opera House.
The groups performing in the concert will include a jazz band, concert band, guitar ensemble, chamber group and the VOX vocal group. If you are interested in attending this concert please contact Hannah Glover, Arts Co-ordinator at CHS, ph: 07 827 5415 ext. 334
