THIS WEEK'S NOTICES

Bulletin notes - Club meeting 02/05/19

Welcome

President Ray welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced President-Elect Robyn. Robyn explained the intent of the “Feed Forward Night” evening which was to gather information on how members viewed the health of the club and how they saw it at the present time, as well as how they thought it could proceed. Members contributed individually and then the suggestions were discussed at each table facilitated by an in-coming director.

The four questions were as follows:

  1. What strengths, challenges exist currently for Rotary Cambridge? What works well, what could work better?
  2. In order for Rotary Cambridge to improve/develop further, what do we need to continue, to change, to start?
  3. What actions do members/Rotary Cambridge need to take to bring in new members, preferably those that develop our diversity?
  4. What do you as a member of Rotary Cambridge want to get out of being a Rotarian? What attributes/skills do you bring to the club?

At the end of the session, Robyn thanked everyone for their input and advised that the results would be announced at a club meeting in the near future, probably beginning of June.

Feedback still open

Rotarians who were not at the meeting are invited to respond to the questions above and send them to Robyn at robyncrickett@gmail.com .

BOOKARAMA 2019 Wednesday 8 May to Sunday 12 May with set up 5, 6, 7 May

Bookarama is now upon us and this week will be busy. As part of the organising team Dennis Finn is looking forward to whatever support you are able to provide.
The following are the key tasks that will require an increasing level of support from our members.
  • Today - Sunday May 5 - shift the books from Achievement House to the Town Hall.
  • We are also calling for assistance on Sunday 13 May when we shift out of the Town Hall and tidy up after the sale.
  • Rosters for assistance during the book sale were passed around at Thursday’s meeting.  If you have not filled in the time/s you can give and over what days to (a) set up the Hall and (b) during the days the sale is open to the public please do so now by emailing Dennis at dgfinn@xtra.co.nz or phoning him on 027 281 4113.
Dennis and the team look forward to your support and ask that you give consideration to the time you can give and when so there is no delay when the rosters are handed around. Thanks in advance for your time. It is certainly appreciated.

Vocational Visit – Thursday 16 May

Don Harris advised that a vocational visit would be made on Thursday 16 May to Ross Bros Car Museum where a variety of cars and tractors are on display.  Finger food would be provided. This is a partners evening so please advise attendance /apologies as soon as possible. Directions coming.

Proposed Fireworks Project – November

Ian Grant advised that a small group of families in the Karapiro area were opposed to the holding of the Fireworks evening in November due to potential harm to animals. A decision as to whether the club would proceed with the project will be made after further discussion.

RYLA

Roster

Please take note of the Duty Roster and be in good time for your duties.

NOTE The Duty "Magic Moment" is: A short comment referencing something in our community, or within Rotary which you find inspiring, encouraging or adding to the joy and pleasure of life. It should be an uplifting story that takes no more than two minutes to deliver. Ideally it will be something from the last week or so, something others may not yet have heard about.
