Christmas is Here
Achievement House:
Rotary Cambridge celebrated Christmas this week with two parties. The first was with the folk at Achievement House, thanks to Julie Bryan for organising this again. She does a great job ringing round all the local cafes and restaurants, please support the following:
Alpino; The Deli; Onyx; Fran's Café; Brian Paynter; Cafe 9; Leamington Bakery and Café; Five Stags; Oasis; Paddock; Instone Café; The Prince Albert; Robert Harris; The Stables; Columbus Coffee (In Mitre 10); Sloth; Good Union and Gourmet Delicious. Might also be nice to say thank you from Rotary while you’re in there.
In addition to all the food Julie buys a present for each guest and organises Santa to deliver it in person. Our own Bruise Brothers entertain and as usual everyone had a great time including the Rotarians who helped on the day. Thanks to all involved.
Secret Santa:
Santa called again on Thursday evening at Bob and Robyn-Anne’s home when they hosted the club’s Christmas break-up. Thank you Bob and Robyn-Anne.
The evening started with everyone sat on the lawn enjoying a glass of wine and good company before the heavens opened sending people scuttling onto the Teal’s verandah and into their home. The food arrived with ham and chicken, salads and veges and people crammed in where they could to eat. Then the rain disappeared and normal service resumed. Dessert of fresh berries was courtesy of the Teal’s.
Santa visited and everyone got a present.
Brian Palmer was our surprise entertainment doing his version of a Ronny Corbett extended humorous story based on his childhood Christmas experiences.
The band played and despite the rain interruption everyone had a great time.
Thanks to Bev Maul Rogers and Bob Teal for their hard work and organisation.
Christmas Message:
Take time to enjoy this season’s tradition of peace and goodwill to all starting with family and friends. Take time on the road to get to your destination safely. Take time to enjoy the opportunity to relax and unwind, de-stress and chill out. Take time for yourself so you will have time for others. Take time to reflect on the past year and your achievements and don’t plan the year ahead in too much detail, it already has enough plans for you, it always does. – Ray.
