NEW VENUE
NEW VENUE :Resthaven Community Centre
Start Date: 6 September

Don’t Forget ….. this coming Thursday (30th August) is our last week of Rotary at Cambridge High School. From Thursday 6th September we will be at the Resthaven Centre at 4 Vogel Street.

There is plenty of parking on-site at number 4. There is parking on both sides of the driveway as you head down to the Centre and in addition to the driveway car-parking, there are two mobility parks right outside the Centre and a number of other carparks. If you’re fairly mobile, please consider parking in the driveway parks and leaving the ones outside the Centre for our members who might appreciate being able to park a little closer.

THIS WEEK'S NOTICES

This Week – Our AGM

Some key points from our AGM last night …..

  • Bev presented us with a great overview on the financials
  • Our subs will increase by $5 a month – the first increase in fees for a number of years
  • We welcomed three new honorary members – Deb Robinson, Sue Bullick and Anne Blewden – in recognition of the wonderful support they have given and still give to our club on projects like Days For Girls and Bookarama
  • David Cooney presented us with the final report from The Cambridge Rotary Club Community Trust (as the trust is now independent from Rotary Cambridge). David also highlighted the $75,000 donation made to Community House.

Thanks

The CHS Hockey team catered our dinner this week and in return received a cheque for $750 which will go towards their Auckland based competition. It’s always great having our high school teams cater for us so thank you very much.
This Coming Week

On Thursday, it’s all about ocean racing as we hear from Anthony Merrington on the Volvo Ocean Race – I am sure there will be some interesting tales from Anthony to keep us entertained.

Marshalling for Harriers.

September 16th Rotary Cambridge is marshalling and manning the water stations for Cambridge Harriers, like we normally do.
I will be coordinating this event and require a big input from our members.
This date has been in Bulletin for a number of weeks and I hope you have all kept this date free.
NB.You have all been included on my list unless you apologies directly to me, or you are on LOA or are of the older generation.
The day will be no longer than 9am till 1pm. Most stations will be between 1 and 2 hours duration.
Partners and children would also me most welcome to help.
I will provide a list and maps closer to the time.

YOUR WEEKLY ROSTER

Please take note of the Duty Roster and be in good time for your duties.

NOTE The new Duty "Magic Moment" is: A short comment referencing something in our community, or within Rotary which you find inspiring, encouraging or adding to the joy and pleasure of life. It should be an uplifting story that takes no more than two minutes to deliver. Ideally it will be something from the last week or so, something others may not yet have heard about.

For example Ray started the year by referencing two inspiring young Kiwi’s honoured, that week, by the Queen for their work in gender equality and mental health. They were Alexia Hilbertidou (aged 19) and Ezekiel Raui (aged 20) who had already made a difference.
