Rotary Cambridge has been a huge supported of Shelterbox, sponsoring boxes to Swaziland, Quetta(2), Pakistan, Samoa, Niger, South Sudan (2), Philippines, DGR Korea and Nepal.
ShelterBox was founded in 2000 in the small town of Helston in Cornwall, UK. That same year the Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard adopted it as its millennium project. Little Since then it has become a Rotary Project Partner.

It is envisaged that each box will sustain an extended family of up to ten people for up to six months. The contents of each ShelterBox are exactly the same so they are easier to get through customs and into the country where they are needed.
In the 15 years since ShelterBox was founded, it has responded to over 200 natural or manmade disasters in almost 90 different countries and provided lifesaving aid for well over one million people.
Each ShelterBox costs NZ$1,500 - which includes transport, training and delivery by our own response teams to any country in the World!
ShelterBox has been deployed into Vanuatu and Nepal following the cyclone and earthquakes which devastated those countries in early 2015.  Cambridge Rotary has donated both ShelterBoxes and money to these latest natural disasters.
New Zealand has a number of volunteers who travel to those countries to help with their deployment.  While Rotarians in those countries have the local knowledge, contacts and access to transport and manpower to ensure they get to where they are most needed.
